Religion & Renaissance Reflection

For my religion poster, I think I did ok. The biggest thing I would change would be to make everything bigger. It's not as good as my Renaissance poster, but i would give it a B or an A.

For my Renaissance poster was very well done in my opinion. I had a good amount of info and it was all organized into different sections and colour-coded too. I used pictures, a Venn Diagram, and i had a legend. I really think this deserves an A, because I have just about everything listed under the A section.

Reflection Questions - Renaissance and Religious Projects

Purpose and Intentions
     The purpose of these two projects were that both were done with informative and imagery project. They both are the same kind but they're also very different, The Renaissance project was used to project various topic about the Renaissance including multiple pictures graphs and other various things. The Religion project was used to project imagery, also saying it's physical appearance. The Religion project portrayed more pictures than of words. However both projects had to have the specific amount of information.

Religion Poster

1st Star: I really liked how I kept my project neat and plain, really simple and easy to read. It was more easier to talk about my project having small points. Not too much info just a couple of key points and 3 different variety of pictures.


2nd Star: I enjoyed the colorful designs around my project including all the expectations for the answers. Also how I put each question onto the project and having point form answers with my explanation on another piece of paper.


Wish: I wish to enlarge my pictures and add even a couple more because the Religion project is based on the physical appearance of the paper. Also print the writing bigger because you are still unable to see from that far of a distance.

Renaissance Poster

If I could give myself a grade I'd give myself a B because I did not try the best of my abilities to do this project. My information was pretty informative but it was a bit hard to read. Ive colour coded the tiny topics.

What did you learn from these two assignments?
That I should make draft or rough before the grandest project, what I did was draw it on the project itself. Getting the biggest or most important photos or topics bigger. Both of these assignments have been a big wake up call for me. I've learnt how to put things importantly throughout a project spacing things out.

What are you most proud of?

What I am most proud of is probably how I put my information, I've multiple sources of information in many things (Books, Internet, Textbooks, etc.). Also how I decided to layout my project or assignment. Color coding as well, making the bigger topics larger and more easier to see. Making the Assignment much easier and plain.

Laura's Self Reflections- Religion & Renaissance

Purpose/Intention

 The purpose of these graphic organizers was quite similar, and yet very different at the same time. In both posters, we showed and represented our learning through words and visuals. 
But in our Religion poster, the focus was mainly on visuals, and had less structure. We could present our information in any way we wanted.
For our Renaissance poster, we were allowed more key words and phrases, because there was a lot more information to portray. It was slightly more structured, because it had criteria and guidelines. It was also a broader topic.

Religion Poster

2 Stars and 1 Wish
Star: I liked the fact that I used my graphic organizer to compare the Aborigine culture to my own religion. It gave me deeper understanding of my topic, because I was able to relate, and see where they were coming from. For example, where Christianity has "God/Jesus" for their 'higher power,' the Aborigines have "Great Spirit Ancestors."

Star: I think that my poster is laid-out well. It is easy to read and understand, and the information is conveyed nicely.

Wish: Looking back at my poster now, I really wish I had used more images in my poster. The few drawings that I have are quite small, and hard to see. Pictures would have made my poster more appealing to the eye, and would have helped my peers understand my project.

Renaissance Poster

If I could give myself a letter grade for this project, I would give myself an A, because my poster met all of the criteria, and all of the "A-level" expectations. Although it's hard to see, I made different sorts of connections using different types of lines, and I used connecting words on the lines to help people understand. My information was clear and easy to read, and I made good use of white space. I used my own words to convey information, and I summarized key ideas to help the reader understand the Renaissance in depth. All my information was categorized, and colour coded. I included a legend to help the viewer in case they need additional help in understanding the material. I used other graphic organizers, and I even used a phoenix rising from the flames of the Middle Ages to represent "rebirth." I understood the topic and assignment, and I think that this project deserves an A.

What did you learn from these two assignments?

I learned how to show my learning and knowledge through a graphic organizer. It can be quite difficult to show someone everything I have learned just through a piece of paper, but I think I'm really getting the hang of it. You can see a lot of growth and improvement from my Religion poster to my Renaissance poster. I learned how to add visuals and colours, without making it seem too overwhelming. I now know how to make solid connections, and how to use other graphic organizers to aid in the understanding of my main topic. I also learned the importance of visuals!

What are you most proud of?

I was proud of my ability to reflect and summarize all of my learning into one graphic organizer. I was able to clearly and efficiently get my point across in these two assignments, and I think that that is something to be proud of. And although it may seem silly, I was proud that I finished both of these assignments on time! These were harder assignments than they first appeared, and I spent long hours slaving away at my kitchen table trying to complete this task, while still doing it to the best of my abilities. And I think that the hard work and effort shows in my projects!

Reflections - Religion and Renaissance Posters

The purpose/intention for both of these graphic organizers are:
a) Religion - Just to state your main information and ideas, and have a lot visuals, comparisons to help the audience understand what you're talking about. We had a lot more freedom and choice of how we wanted to organize/do our poster, as there were less guidelines and structure to follow. This was more 'visual' based, and we had to use a minimal amount of words to summarize our topic, but it was easier as it was not too broad of a topic.

b) Renaissance - We had less freedom to do what we wanted as we had more guidelines and structure to follow, such as having graphic organizers, making connections, and showing depth of thought. We had to state our main information and ideas here as well, but we were allowed to use more words given how large the topic the Renaissance was. We were also encouraged to use symbolism through pictures. This organizer had less pictures in it, but that was balanced out by other things, such as colour choice or such.
Both of the graphic organizers were similar in the sense that they both used keywords, main ideas, and had pictures, but the main difference is that we were given more guidelines, for the Renaissance than the religion project, and the Renaissance was more complex in information/connections. The religion project however, was more visual in the sense that there were more illustrations.

Religion Poster: 

2 Stars:

1) I used important keywords and only important keywords in order to get my main point across in the fewest amount of words, so that my poster would not be crowded with too much information.

2) I divided my main topic into several subcategories and divided those subcategories into several smaller subcategories, so that anyone who looked at my poster would be able to understand what each one of those subcategories were about, and understand the big picture as well. (So, I'm saying that I organized my poster in the best possible way, that I saw fit. 

1 Wish:

1) I do wish that I had put more visuals (pictures) on my poster, as it would have helped enhance the reader's ability to understand the religion that I did my project on. It would have done so by helping the reader after reading the main keywords on my poster pin a certain picture to the information that they had just read about. 

Renaissance Poster:

If I could assign myself a letter grade for this project, I would give myself an A, because I understood and fulfilled the purpose/intention for this project, which was to demonstrate my comprehension of the Renaissance along with showing my meta-cognition skills and meeting all of the criteria expected. I did so by writing down important key information about the Renaissance, making connections, and even summarizing main ideas that might have been hard for the reader to grasp. I met all of the criteria expected of this project by using symbolism through certain pictures, showing a variety of connections using coloured arrows, and not to mention I colour coded my entire poster with a specific colour for each subcategory. Also, I used different graphic organizers to show my depth of understanding, along with a legend so that the individual reading my poster would comprehend and be able to fully understand my poster. Though my poster might look a bit crowded from afar, it actually isn't, as there are white spaces in my poster. Another thing that I did was that I added some examples/more helpful keywords to certain places in my poster where there was information written down along with pictures (throughout my poster) to help enhance the reader's ability to understand the information I wrote in my poster in case they had never learned about the Renaissance beforehand. The final thing that I have to say is, this is a 'graphic organizer' and thus it must be visual, and I have done so by using different graphic organizers, colours, and illustrations. I also used a baby to represent rebirth, as "Renaissance" in French means "rebirth". 

What did you learn from these two assignments?

I learned how to manage my time and use it wisely in order to complete my research and poster itself in the time allotted along with how to summarize the main information (key points) of such a large topic like the 'Renaissance' in a minimal amount of words. I also learned how to have organized my poster in a way that it showed how much I learned about the Renaissance (Eg. colour coding, examples given, illustrations drawn). More importantly, I learned how to show my connections of several topics/ideas, and show my depth of thought. I am also thankful that I had the chance to learn about the Baha'i religion and the Renaissance, as both assignments, have helped improve my note-taking/researching skills, presenting skills (Baha'i), writing skills, reflection skills, and even my organisation skills. 

What are you most proud of?

 I am most proud of how my posters turned out and how I managed to finish them in the given time. Time has been my 'enemy' in our previous projects in Humanities 8, but I learned from those other projects and used my time wisely, thus resulting in posters that I was quite happy to make and proud of. I put a lot of time and effort into these posters, and it paid off. Not in just how it looked, but in the thought and information that was put into it as well.
